Broken Puppet

I wrote this poem when I was 16 and lost it. I finally found it and wanted to share.

Broken puppet hung from string
Played by misery
Dancing as the faces smile
Watching peacefully
Eyes gaze upon her fragile soul
She sways and falls apart
She wanted him to dance with her
Instead he stole her heart
She sews herself together
Pretends that she's okay
He holds her heart still beating
And takes her breath away
Misery hides behind the show
While all the people cheer
Never free from all his strings
They never see her tear

  1. I just stumbled across this and wanted to say that it's lovely! (Also kind of reminds me of a part of Daughter of Smoke and Bone!)
